Every law student starting out in law school is required to have a number of different 2 ring binders for the different law courses they will be taking. A binder is useful because it can hold loose leaf paper, xerox copied articles and research, exam study guides, exams, curriculum printouts, and even a class prospectus created by the law professor teaching the particular class that the binder is designated for. 2 ring binders are inexpensive, and different colors can be purchased to encourage separation and identification of each binder for each law class. 2 ring binders will hold a great deal of paper, as they are sturdy and are created to capture months of coursework. 2 ring binders are a bit less popular in the age of computers, electronic note taking and test taking, and the like, but many law schools still use the traditional rule regarding 2 ring binders. Binders have been said to be most useful for holding and storing past exams, which are vital when studying for the final exam. Each past test must be stored in the binder in a recognizable and accessible fashion, so that reflection back upon previously learned material can occur.
